I purchased a Macbook a week ago and so far have enjoyed it but one thing I just noticed and is bugging me is that when the screen is off I can notice what appears to be keyboard keys on my monitor which line up when it's closed. It doesn't seem to be noticble when it's turned on but it's pretty annoying to say the least.
Anyone else have this issue or should I return it (doubt i can return it as its the clearance one).
Do you use an iSkin keyboard cover or anything similar? These can get the screen a bit greasy where they touch it when the computer's closed. Do the marks come off when you clean the screen?
no case yet, haven't even taken it out of the house (hardly been used yet)
i do have the little sheet that it comes with out of the box on the keyboard and have only tried to lightly rub the screen with a microfibre cloth to clean which doesn't do anything
is there another method to cleaning it that i should try?
I thought the recessed keyboard would eliminate this. Do you keep the MacBook upside-down, or with anything on the lid? If not, try a screen cleaner... water is fine, Windex is okay, iKlear is excellent.
But hey, it's probably the previous owner's fault. 🙂
i'm the first owner and i don't keep it upside down or with any presure on the top of the screen
i rubbed a bit harder with just a cloth again and it seems to have gotten rid of the smudges but it's still a bit of a let down that this would happen so quickly 😟
I'm surprised, too. The recessed keyboard was designed so that the screen wouldn't pick up keyboard marks. In contrast, my six-month-old MacBook Pro (with the "traditional" raised keys) has no key marks on the screen.
