IPod cannot be synced because of missing file Help

I am a new IPod owner...got it for my birthday today. I have repeated the 5Rs as suggested and I keep getting the above message. I have music ready and waiting to download.
I would really appreciate any suggestions...

Gateway, Windows 2000, I have an IPod nano

Does the error message what file is missing? If it's this one have a look at the tips and see if they help: What to do if iPod can't be updated because the firmware file was corrupt or not found

Thank you for your reply. The error message reads this way:

The iPod,-----, cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found.

I am at a loss because iTunes recognizes my iPod and it is on my computer as well.

I have restarted, reloaded, and returned the iPod to factory settings.
I am not that computer savvy but I have given it my best shot. Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem. My computer locked up last week so I started everything from scratch. I downloaded itunes 7, but I still get the same message. Could it be the iPod that is missing the file?
