using Pinnacle Studio and Quicktime

I have a business where I convert personal videos to dvd, I am having my first experience with a .mov file. I need to convert it to an .avi file so that Studio can put it on dvd. Each time I try to convert the .mov file the video is shortened from 13 minutes to about 10 seconds and the sound isn't there. I'm not sure what to do about this, is there anyone out there who can help?

Open the .mov file with QuickTime Player and open the Movie Info window to note the codecs used in the file.
.mov, like .avi is just a container and they can hold dozens of codec combinations.
To preserve video quality you should export to AVI and then use DV/DVCPRO - NTSC (Options button).

I opened the .mov file as you said, and then the movie info...no codecs listed. here is what is in the movie info screen:

Normal Size
Current Size

Then it is PHOTO JPEG codec and you need some form of video codec.
It was probably made using iPhoto and you need to export it using QuickTime Pro to DV Stream (.dv) so you can use it in your Windows software.
