Printing on networked Canon Pixma Pro 9000

I have a Canon Pixma Pro 9000 printer connected to a D-Link DPR-1260 print server and can print on it from any Windows XP computers on my network. Likewise if I connect the printer to a Windows XP machine and enable printer sharing. However, I cannot configure my various Macs to work the same way. Canon's OS X driver only supports the printer connected via USB.

After much back-and-forth, Canon technical support admitted that it is possible to convince OS X to print on a networked Pro 9000, though it's not a configuration they support, nor would they provide any details. They passed the buck and referred me here.

I'd appreciate any information on how to print on my networked Pro 9000 from OS X: particularly what printer model/printer driver to choose and, if it's not one of the ones bundled with 10.4.9, where to obtain it. Thanks a lot.

I jsut got the same device today. it took a while but i got it working following the instructions on this page:
http://www.macfixitforums.com/showflat.php?Board=Forum39&Number=789808

basically, you have to

1 - set it up through windows with the printer wizard
2 - set up a new IP printer using LPD in OS X using the ip of the print server and the print qeue that the DPR1260 gave the printer(get that from the web panel)

and that's it.

I have had a horrible time setting up other d-link hardware, but i took a chance and bought this one anyway. Glad I found that post since I was about to go return the DPR1260.
