Odd spacing with Times New Roman font?

Pages at the standard 1-line spacing in Times New Roman spaces the lines more like 1.1-line spacing compared to Word. Looks really odd, and formats poorly when single-spacing is required. Any reason why, or ability to change it within Pages? Doesn't appear to happen with other fonts, even with standard Times, but I must use Times New Roman for many work purposes. I tried decreasing line spacing to .9 which approximates standard 1-line spacing, but it's a pain and results in some uneven line spaces, which I understand Pages also has a tendency to do ...
Thanks!

Have you checked the text settings in the Text inspector? The default is 1 line but it is possible for it to be different if you're seeing this on an imported Word document.

Not being familiar with Word myself, I've found that Word doesn't understand my preferred spacing of 0.9 in Pages exported to Word & then opened in Word on either the Mac or PC.
