Clamav, SpamAssassin and amavisd-new

Hiya Folks,

Hopefully you can help clear up a query I have about Clamav, SpamAssassin and amavisd-new.

From what I've read amavisd-new scans for viruses and spam before it hits the MTA (PostFix).

After postfix has done its work then the clamav and spamassassin work their magic ?

Or have I totally lost the plot ?

Postfix interacts with the mail first.

Then, Postfix hands over any mail that passes its restrictions to Amavisd-new.

Amavisd-new than send the mail to ClamAV and SpamAssassin for content evaluation and scoring. Amavisd-new then uses the results to determine where to send the mail at that point (i.e., kill it, quarantine it, send it on, etc.).
