iTunes Store won't open

Every time I try to open my iTunes store a message keeps popping up that says "the network connection timed out." I know that my internet connection is fine and i've tried restarting the computer. it won't even let me log in. does anyone know what to do?

The mere fact that you are able to post on this forum shows that things are probably alright with your system and it is just the overloaded servers on iTunes keeping you at bay. I noticed in a post a few minutes ago that someone in New York was now achieving normal download speeds on his Plus downloads. Hopefully, things are nearly back to normal - perhaps even as I write.

Yes, every time until just recently. I sat for nearly three days just to download 57 tracks - at about 16 hours a day! If you have previously been able to use iTunes then that is probably the reason for current problems. If you have had ongoing problems (before last week) then perhaps you need to be looking at your firewall configuration, conflicting progs etc. Someone suggested using Msconfig.sys to weed out startup conflicts but if you do that try and adjust one at a time or you might find other things no longer work. Might be your antivirus software. Very unlikely to be anything to do with your Host file.

Looking for help, I've search the board and cannot find any one else with my error. For 5 days now I have been unable to connect to store- error messag reads "Itunes could not connect to the Itunes store. An unknown error occurred (-3212. Make sure your network connection is active and try again."

I've checked my connection and all is good, done the diagn check and cleared cache and I still get the error.
Any ideas, help please?

The very same issue. Have tried restarting iTunes, rebooting, disabling Norton, un-installing and then re-installing iTunes. Still get "the network connection timed out.".

The iTunes help diagnostic / help system does not give any pointers; it talks around SSL3.0 and TLS1.0.

I am suspicious that the issue is related to 7.3.1.3 which I just upgraded to in the last few days. Either that or the iTunes server is so overloaded that it is impossible to access.

Here too.
Did some detective work: apple responds back with a redirect page (302 - Redirect).
The only other thing in this response is that it says its temporary and based on policy.
This means, to me, that particular host cannot service the request and should redirect to one that can (server overload?).
Except, the network timeout issue occurs.
How can we prevent these timeouts from occurring?
I don't mind waiting a few more seconds to get the connection to the itunes store.

Same here!!! It seems like there are a lot of people getting that message lately. I've been having trouble with this for the better part of a week and it's so frustrating. I've tried everything! The weird thing though is that everything works just fine right after I uninstall and redownload iTunes. It connects to the store no problem, even starts downloading purchases, but once I shut it off for the night and come back the next morning it tells me the connection timed out. What exactly does that mean anyway? If it has to do with how long it takes to connect, I could care less! I've got dial-up, EVERYTHING takes forever! I know my internet connection is just fine. What the heck is wrong with it and why doesn't Apple seem to be doing anything to fix it?

I have had this error for two weeks now. I have upgraded then downgraded and then upgraded to latest version of Itunes. I am running Win XP and Nortons Antivirus. I cannot seem to connect to the store. My broadband internet connection is fine.

I see lots of users here and their frustration in getting onto the itunes store.

I hope someone can help me.

I have the exact same problem. When I want to sync my ipod or something I always do it last because I don't want to lose the internet connection. A reboot fixes it. However iTunes is changing the way I have to use my computer. Which is ridiculous. Have the tech guys at least found a patch or something to repair this ridiculous issue! It used to run fine until recently.
