Can't open .pkg files, and Installer won't work...

Can't open .pkg files, and Installer won't work...

Hey.

Whenever I try to open .pkg files, the installer logo appears on my dock for a quarter of a second, before vanishing. Whenever I try to open installer on it's own, the same thing happens.

Any idea as to how I can reinstall 'installer', or better yet, fix it.

Repair permissions and then restart. If that doesn't fix things, create a new admin user account, log into it, and see if the problem persists. If not, then it's within the original account, usually corrupt or conflicting preferences. If so, it's sytem-wide, and I recommend reinstalling the latest COMBO update.

I've repaired my permissions using terminal, but nothing has happened. I've also found out that 'Disk Utility' isn't in my Utility folder

Also, the COMBO download is a .pkg file, so I can't download that.

Then, you have serious problems if you can't find Disk Utility. You might consider doing an Archive & Install installation, saving user and network settings.
