Import from Sony MicroMV

Hi I have a SONY DCR-IP5 camera. It uses MicroMV Media (records to MPG2). I can't find any option when I start a project that matches. In all the options I have available (DV, DV widescreen, HDV 1080dpi, HDV 720p, MPEG-4 and iSight) when I try to select the camcorder, always shows the message "Incompatible with project".

What can I do? Should I get a different software?

afaik, there's NO option to import from MicroMV onto Mac .. a very proprietary format ...

MPEG Streamclip should be able to convert the material to a format that iMovie can import.

...but that is a hassle because MicroMV is not designed to be compatible with iMovie.

does it? missed that, my latest info was, it is a just kind of mp2... kinda Sony-mp2... ;))

.....but that is a hassle..

and the other one is, to get into the Mac.. how to 'pursuade' the device, to deliver via firewire/iLink the data... ??

I.e. for geeks only. I have no first-hand experience about this.
