Power mac G4 Fan Mods and CPU fan Specification

Hey does anyone know where i might be able to find the specification for the CPU fan in a PowerMac G4 MDD FW800 1.25GHz DP?

I am looking to replace the fan in my mac because it is very noisy and i think the barings are shot in it because when it spins up at around 57C is makes very loud cluncling noises! I would like to find a replacement fan that is quiet but still moves the same amount if not more air within the case.

Other problems is that my mac freezes randomly quite alot so i was thinking of adding a few more fans to keep things cool. It normally runs at about 57-58C under the upper thresh hold but for some reason still crashes.

These are the proposed plans:

A: PCI fan
B: Mounting two small quiet fans on the grill on the front air intake to pull more air into the machine. These will be powered off the ATA 66 power supply

C: http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/systems/mddcooling_mods/MDD_coolingmods3.html I was thinking of doing something like this to apply more direct powerfull cooling to the processors. These would be powered off the ATA 100 power supply

D: Finally i thought i might replace the fans in the PSU with quieter ones though this isnt a priority at the moment so im not sure whether i would do this or not, its the CPU fan that makes most of the noise.

Any thoughts and fan specs would be much apreciated.

CPU fan should on the later models was normally a Papst 4212H
Manufacturers website is http://www.papst.de/
These fans were slightly modified by Apple for the MDD (fan housing flanges were machined in a couple of places so they fitted into the locating clips in the case.) The fans fitted to the first of the MDD macs (the noisy ones!) was a Delta AFB1212SHE which fits without modifiction, you copuld also fit the Delta AFB1212HE which has about the same airflow as the Papst
Delta datasheet is here:

Make sure you blow out all the dust from the case and around the CPU as this can have a profound effect on CPU temps.
The airflow around the CPU is not the best designed in the world, experimentation with bits of high density foam to encourage air through the heatsink rather than past it around the hard drive may be worthwhile.
At the risk of igniting old arguments, the MDD macs cann be made to run quite cool, I have a MDD with the 1.4 processor running @ 1.4 on 133MHz bus that sits at about 45 degrees with just airflow directing mods and the standard CPU fan.

Normally the PSU fans are probably the most noisy fans in the MDD, when looking for replacements make sure that they have a flow rate equal to the originals or there is the risk of frying your PSU 😟
As a rule, sleeeve bearing fans will be quieter but have a shorter life, some manufacturers make fans with ceramic sleeve bearings so this may be worth investigating.
