Sony DCR TRV19

The software (Imageviewer ver 1.5) that came with this "old" (by computing standards) camcorder is not compatible with OS X. As a result I cannot accomplish what I wanted to do in the first place - take my existing Digital8 video and upload it to Mac for slicing/dicing/editing. So ....
1) Does anyone know of an updated USB driver/software or a patch for imageviewer 1.5?
2) How else can I get my Digital8 video onto my Mac? Is there a hardware conversion unit available, or similar?
