battery life which watching a movie and unplugged

Whne I download a feature length movie from itunes and watch it on a plane, even though my battery was fully charged when i start the movie, its usually close to empty when the movie is over.

Any suggestions how to extend the battery while watching a movie. Thanks

Which media player are you using ?

You should use VLC to watch your movies because Quicktime uses more CPU power to play the same movie file for some reason.

Here's my result playing a 3 minute music video. (H.264 file)

CPU usage:

VLC --- 15 to 20 %
Quicktime --- 30 to 48%

I hope this helps.

well, VLC is a popular free open-source multiple platform media player. You can download it from this link:

Since VLC uses less CPU to play a movie file,it will definitely save more power for longer viewing.

Check it yourself. It is always hard for Mac users to believe a 3rd party software outperforms Apple's software in certain regards.
