Vista print driver for the LaserWriter Select 360

I posted this in another discussion group, but thought I would try it her as well. I have my Laserwriter Select hooked up to an external HP Jet Direct box which is assigned a static IP address. Looks like Windows Vista doesn't include any Apple printer drivers like Windows XP did.

Has anyone else been able to use their Laserwriter 360 with Windows Vista?

Hi Grant. the HP Jet direct box is not causing any issues whatsoever; its only a driver I am search of for the Apple Laserwriter Select 360.
Windows Vista sees the printer via the HP Jet Direct box IP address (I don't recall what specific model it is) but I need to get a driver *.inf file so I can point Windowz to use it. The Jet Direct box has a parallel port on it which in turn plugs into the printer itself. The Jet Direct also has a network card in it that can be assigned a static IP. Ultimetly it turns any parallel printer into a network based printer via an IP address!
I can access the printer with no problem from my Win XP machine because Win XP includes the Apple print drivers as part of the base OS.

If you or anyone else can help me, I'd appreciate it!

Adobe Launches PostScript Driver for Windows Vista
For immediate release
Adobe PostScript Driver Provides Higher Quality Print Output; Helps Preserve Hardware Investment

SAN JOSE, Calif. — May 14, 2007 — Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today announced new print driver software that enables users of Microsoft® Windows® Vista™ to take advantage of high quality PostScript printers. With Adobe® PostScript® Driver for Office/Windows Vista, customers can use their existing PostScript printers while obtaining higher quality print output from Microsoft Office applications. The driver is expected to ship to Adobe OEM printing partners in July 2007. OEM partners will be able to offer the driver directly to their customers and bundle it with devices.

“Adobe is committed to supporting our customers on the latest operating systems,” said Don Walker, senior director of product marketing and business development at Adobe. “Providing the best PostScript print technology for Vista is part of that commitment.”

The driver delivers higher quality print output for Office files with transparency and gradients than printing the same files using the standard PostScript driver bundled with Windows. OEM printer manufacturers can support the new Vista print path without making any changes to their devices. Implementing and customizing the driver requires minimal effort since it leverages existing PPDs (PostScript Printer Description) files, user interfaces and custom OEM code.

Adobe PostScript is the page description language standard for tens of millions of high performance printing systems, print workflow solutions and desktop printers. It provides core functionality for rendering complex images, text, graphics and color, and provides reliable, high-quality output across devices, from office printers to high-end digital production systems including the latest and most advanced digital color presses.

The Adobe PostScript Driver is expected to be available to Adobe’s OEM printing partners in July 2007.

All, I love my LaserWriter Select 360, it's a workhorse, I have had for over 10 years. Anyway, reading through the threads, I tried a HP LaserJet 4/4M Plus PS 300 driver (another workhorse about the same time period) and I got a good Test Page. Open up Word 2007 and printed a document with out a hitch. Open up Adobe Acrobat 7 and that printed too.

Hope this helps!
