was just using my power adapter for my MBP like usual, when the cable frayed (the thin one near the end closest to actual charger. i have applecare, is it covered in warranty? do i just go down to my reseller and explain my issue with my warranty certificate?
I've have quite a few replaced under warranty for this issue both in the US and the UK without incident. So long as you're not dropping them in the lake you should be covered by warranty.

Just call up Apple. Mine did the same thing and the cable (thin cable at the converter end) started melting and almost caught on fire (If I hadn't smelled the burning/melting plastic, it would have). They had a replacement to me in about 2 days. If you have an apple store, they should be able to replace it in store.
