when the battery 3 GUI is open, i cant do anything in the editor (eg delete a note, move notes up and down etc) because the key commands still work on battery. example, say i try to delete a midi note in the editor when the battery GUI is open, it does nothing to the midi note but deletes the cell in battery. its a real pain to keep opening and closing the AU instruments everytime i want to work in the editor, what can i do to stop this happening??
macbook,
Mac OS X (10.4.9),
core duo, not core 2 duo.........boo hoo!
actually saying that, wont that mean that the plugins never receive key commands, even when i want them to? (ie when i'm tweking them, not working in the editor).
Well, you can't have it both ways! Should a plugin get key commands or not?
It can't both get
and ignore key commands. There might be additional preferences in the NI plugins preferences as to what it does with key commands - worth checking out, anyway...
well i dont see why this could not be implemented? its simple, whichever window (editor, plugin gui, etc) is 'active' ie ontop should receives the key commands, how hard can that be? novation have this implemented in their automap system. apple, get on it!
I found this a pain too. From years of working in publishing with Finale I have QuicKeys. I have set up a quicKey to toggle this command from pi to Logic and back
Plugins are generally in floating windows, which don't get key commands by default - otherwise, you couldn't use any key commands in the arrange window when you had a transport window open etc.
