I had the annoying MS Visual C++ Runtime Error for a few days, and through the advice of other Support Discussions, I was advised to update my iTunes. I tried this, and I received Error 2755--which shut down my installation. Thus, I had two problems with my iTunes. Fortunately, I managed to alleviate the problems just this morning, and iTunes works normally. This is what I did:
1) Open Apple Software Update: Instead of having the programme update for me, I went to Tools and just downloaded the updates. However, if you're already up-to-date with your software, the programme will just close if you click OK. If you're already running 7.3 iTunes and the new Quicktime you may not encounter this. You may have to manually download the newest Quicktime and iTunes from the Apple website. That being said, I did get a Security Update for Quicktime as one of the updates I needed, and at the very least, this update should populate the Updates list.
2) Open the Security Update for Quicktime Install File: Let it run successfully.
3) Open the Quicktime Install File: From here, I went to Repair. After running Repair, I was told that my Quicktime is up-to-date or something along those lines.
4) Attempt to open iTunes: I tried to open iTunes and still received the C++ Runtime Error. If this happens, go to Step 5.
5) Open the iTunes 7.3 Install File: Before, opening this would just close the programme due to Error 2755, but after rectifying my Quicktime drama, I was able to run the installation as normal. After installation, iTunes opened and played normally.
I hope this helps anyone who's had the misfortune of having the C++ Error in conjunction with Error 2755. From what I've extensively read on the Support Discussions, iTunes and Quicktime are bedfellows; thus, after repairing whatever was wrong with my Quicktime (Security Update and Repair), iTunes was allowed to run properly after installation.
