iTunes 7.2 Playing Songs -Won't Stop Playing Songs For About 30 Seconds

Since updating, when playing a song from itunes, will start to play. If I do not stop the song in the first few seconds it plays for at least 20-30 seconds and the spinning beach ball appears. My iPod is malfunctioning and i do not trust to synch with iTunes. This is a brand new library - complete new system install. Welcome to the Digital Age..Any help or similiar experiences??

Thanks alot Apple. 18 months ago lost couple thousand songs after an upgrade...

What are the alternatives for portable music?? I just want something that works and is REALIABLE! All my iPods have needed repair or where replaced by Apple.
