Linksys N router WRT300n freezing macbook

I just purchased a brand new Macbook form the apple store and when ever my linksys router is on it freezes my entire computer. This is my secound machine because i thought it might have been a defect in the laptop itself. The router is less that a year old. When the airport is off the computer works fine...also when im only any other network my couputer works fine. So i believe the problem is in the router. Is any body having a similar problem and may have some info on how to fix this problem ....apple support never hered of the problem and could fix it any help would greatly be appreciated

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.4.9), 2gb ram Black

I tried that also and being that my mac book has the new n adapter with in it i wanted to enjoy the speed of the n I tried messing with the security encryptions on line and still it does the same routine. When it freezes 1) the rainbow ball begins spining where the airport icon is 2) when you try to open another program the program just bounces in the dock area and the computer wont even turn off....is this the same effect you encounter

Yep same thing, except in my case it starts spinning on safari then the system freezes up. But other than that no difference.

So we have pinpointed the problem then too the wireless router. (First thank you, you saved me the hassel of sending this machine back to Apple). Mine seems to have stopped but I also tried one more thing. I reduced my security from WEP: 128 bit/26 hex to WEP: 64 bit/10 hex, see if it helps.

Tell me if it works, I too would love to use the Wireless N settings. But I believe the problem has to do with the mixed mode operation might be confusing the Airport Adaptor.

It is still a mystery....i tried every single option regarding the router levels at a/b/g/n....and still the same probem by just turning the n on by itself the problems seems to be solved when you run the mouse over the aiport symbol but when i open safari it won't open and the dreaded rainbow wheel comes back. I'm almost leaning towards selling this router on ebay being that i got it only a month ago and buy the airport extreme. such a pain in the *** and i know its probably not apples fault.....linksys seems to carry a bad relationship with apples especially in the other forums ive read involving linksys routers.

Hi All,
I don't think the problem is with the linksys router. I bought my Macbook Pro in July this year. I also bought a new router. Except my router is Belkins. It is also wireless N, and on the box is has the nice Mac compatible picture.
I'm experiencing the same kind of problems. Well, my is a little bit more funnier:
Right now I'm sitting in my living room and the router is about 15 feet away from me. Everything seems to be working fine. When I click on the network utility, it says it is connected at 130 Mb (what ever that means).
However when I walk into my room, which is about 15 more feet away, the trouble starts happening. The connection is working for a while. Then I see the signal waves on the airport to disappear and appear but only as if the signal is half as strong. And then, the computer just freezes. I have to restart the computer. When I restart it, I try to disable the airport, so that I can get at least some work done on the computer. But as soon as I click on the airport icon, the rainbow circle appears, and the computer freezes.
I tried to connect to a network in my friend's house, and the wireless was working fine. But then again, my friend has only the wireless G.
Now here comes the funny part. About two weeks ago, I installed the boot camp on my computer and also installed windows. And guess what... the connection is working fine when I'm in windows. It says that it is connected at 300 Mbps, and it is pretty fast. The computer does not freeze at all. I guess the old phrase: "It just works..." is not that true???
And speaking about security:
I had to make my network unsecure. When I called Belkins, they told me that the freezing might be due to the heavy security. I went to the router set up page, and used the MAC address filter to only allow my computers to connect to it. I tried to connect with one of my laptops when the MAC address wasn't included, and I couldn't connect. Does anybody know about wireless security?
But back to the wireless N. I really think there is something wrong with the software in mac mode. The wireless is supposed to work on all networks, and all routers. That's the whole point of wireless. If I have to do all the different firmware updates on my router, then I don't need a wireless on my computer. I can just connect the computer directly to the modem. If I take my computer to a coffee shop that uses wireless N, and it doesn't have the latest firmware installed, then I have no use for the wireless or my computer for the matter.

I have a related problem, not in that this same routed is crashing my MacBook, but in that internet connectivity just dies... and a restart is the only thing that remedies the situation.

I have the Airport Extreme with the 802.11 a/b/g/n installed, and run a fixed IP for (hopefully) obvious reasons.

Compared to the older G series router I had before, this N series is just not very stable...
