I was wondering if this was possible? I got a new Mac, but I have a program I used for mixing my bands songs that I cannot get to work on my Mac because it contains a .exe file that Mac will not run. Any way I can get this to work?
An .exe file is typically a Windows executable file and will only run in Windows.
You'd probably need to install Windows on your machine in order to use that .exe file you have there.
Depending on your particular model Mac, there's a few ways to install Windows.
Can you give us some more details about which Mac you have?
thanks for getin on this so fast. I have Mac OS X Version 10.4.8 with 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, I think it's an IMac 5.1.
If I installed windows on my computer wouldn't that take up a lot of space and basically turn my MAC into the same PC I had before? Excuse me if that sounds dumb I'm not too sure what to do I guess
No it wouldn't turn your Mac into a PC. You would have them both installed at once. Yeah, it probably would take up alot of space. I have never done it though so I don't really know details related to that. But basically you would just have Windowws there if you need it and boot into when for example you need to run a .exe.
Thanks for the help everyone. Anyone else have any suggestions? I really don' wanna install windows on here and I am really partial to the program I was using. Maybe I will look into somethin else. If worse comes to worse, I do have my old computer that I can set up when I need to do some song mixing
If you have an Intel Mac, you may be able to use
CrossOver to run the .exe file. On a PowerPC Mac, .exe files require the use of Windows and a Windows emulator, except for self-extracting .zip files. Your computer is an Intel Mac.
