5.1 Surround Sound not working on iTunes

Here's an odd question. I a CMedia 8738 chipset generic soundcard with 5.1 surround sound. I just got a Vista driver for it but now my iTunes only plays out of the front three speakers and subwoofer.

Any ideas why it shuts down the rear speakers?

Open the Quicktime control panel. On the "Audio" tab, make sure the channels pulldown is set to 5.1.

Tried that, didn't work. Even with it set to 5.1, both iTunes and Quicktime only use the 3 front speakers.

Any other ideas?

SameSame. I'll add that surround works fine with all other programs I tried. I also attempted all combinations of settings from within Quiktime and continue to update itunes, to no avail.
