Netscape Navigator

I keep trying to download Netscape Navigator (the latest one) but for some reason when I do it doesn't open. I can get it onto my computer but when I click it, it just bounces in the dock for a long time. When it finally stops bouncing, the top of the page (where it says "File", "Edit", "Help" etc) tells me that Netscape Navigator IS open, but all that happens is that the cursor does that swirly rainbow thing (- I wish I could be more eloquent, but I hope you know what I mean!). Then I end up having to Force Quit. Basically this happens no matter where I download it from: I downloaded it from the Apple website, and tried again on the Netscape website, but the same thing keeps happening. What could I be doing wrong? Help!
Thanks

Hello,

Ok, anytime you download a file with a .sea extension, you need software to open it with. So... go here: http://www.stuffit.com/mac/expander/index.html
Download and install Stuffit Expaner for Mac OS X, it is FREE. Once it's intalled, just take the Netscape file you downloaded and drop it on the Stuffit Expander icon. Presto... it will open. THEN you can open the Netscape file and install Netscape.

Hi

Are you installing Netscape this way, providing it's a .dmg?

After you have downloaded the disk image, it should open a window showing the Netscape icon. You then open another Finder window & navigate to Applications. Putting both windows next to each other, drag & drop the Netscape icon from its window to your Applications window (this is also how you install Firefox).

When that is complete, you can eject the disk image by dragging the white disk icon on the desktop to the trash.

Hi Cherie,

Sometimes there a hiccups in the download, so you might try a new download.

Are you sure you got the right one as in PPC vs Intel?

Did you do prep work prior to the install?

Repair Permissions; some debate this one but it doesn't take much time.

As long as you are there, verify disk. If there are issues, you will need to repair using disk utility from the install disk.

Disconnect all unnecessary peripherals, especially external HDs.

Good Luck, post back and let us know how it went. JP
