Safari 3 Beta for Windows - app text not showing

I just downloaded the new Safari 3 for Windows beta. The install seems to have gone fine, but when Safari is launched, none of the application text shows, i.e. no menus, no right-click drop down text, no url, and none of the text on the apple home page.

Any ideas? Or is this just one of those beta quirks?

Ok, this resolutio partially worked for me as well. One thing I did slightly differently (it shouldn't matter in XP, but I do it out of habit anyway) - I opened my Windows\Fonts folder in Windows Explorer and installed the fonts via File->Install New Font, then renamed the fonts in the Safari.resources folder. It works about 80% for me, but I am having the same issue with Verdana fonts others have reported - still no text showing for pages that use that font family. For instance, www.netvibes.com still has invisible text. I can display most of my Google homepage, but the calendar widget text is invisible as well

You clearly don't know what you are talking about 🙂 The thing you try to tell is that you'd like to see an RC - Release Candidate. That is functional, has bugs but it's not known what or where at the time and should have a lot of beta testing behind.
Alpha is like just the WebKit framework only. You have a 'browser' but no i/o, you can't do anything with it.
Beta is like you have Safari talking with the webkit but it doesn't have all the questions and answers ready.

(for those who know what I am trying to explain; I know that it's not like that but not everyone can take the real explanation)

Anyway, this is Safari 3 Beta for Windows and not Mac. Probably a lot of bugs in webkit too...

Im having the same problems. I installed Safari 3 beta today for Windows and when i launch it, it keeps crashing and even restrated windows without prompting. i've tried re-installing a number of times, but no luck. moreover, its tile bar and menus were not right. it was jumbled text. hopefully, apple can look into this and re-release another beta.

A coworker had the text problem and Windows kept repairing her install when I attempted to rename any files in the Safari folder.

The thing that worked for me was:

1. Rename Safari.preferences
2. Rather than clicking on a Safari shortcut, click directly on Safari.exe in the program folder. That should cause an error which will prompt you to send an error report to Microsoft.
4. Click "Don't Send"
5. Rename Safari.preferences back and start Safari.

Hopefully this will work for you too.
