Corrupted Buddy List full of Strangers' Names

I am experiencing a problem on my MacBook Pro, which doesn't happen on my iMac. My buddy list has become corrupted and contains a list of weird names with icons (not photos) and only one correct buddy (with photo). All my other buddies have disappeared. Does anyone have any idea what could have happened? I've rebooted but that didn't help.

There is an AIM bot there called "Moviefone". You may recognise the icon.

The next bit is to work out how they got into the Buddy list.

iChat requires that you add Buddies specifically.

The AIM application certainly used to add new Contacts to a group called RECENT BUDDIES and if you have used AIM somewhere this may help point the way.

In the eamil you say this is your Husband's laptop.

Does he run windows and AIM on it at times ?

Has he disengaged the option to also launch AIMPages (Not sure that is the right name but it goes to some sort of news site) in a web browser when he starts it up ?

I would guess this may have had a "feature" to add them as a sort of trial.

Chris,

Does your husband use his Buddy list anywhere else ?

It is held on the AIM server and can be accessed from any computer and any AIM based client application.

The possibility of an Intel with XP on it under Boot Camp or similar was just my first thought.

I currently have two Macs on line and logged in to two different Screen names and I am not getting this problem.

For others,

I know Chris is also in Britain, where is everyone else ?
