dropouts when using ADAT as interface

Hello, I have been experiencing drop outs when using ADAT machine as an A to D converter. The setup is this: Motu 828mkII=10 ana inputs, ADAT lightpipe out into Motu828mkII provides 8 more inputs to Logic, now 18 total. The ADAT sync out cable into Motu 828mkII. So far I believe there is nothing else to configure, just select the proper input channel in Logic and whoop there it is.Yes, but I'll be holding a chord on a Moog that is being converted by the ADAT then periodically you hear a quick dropout say 125ms where silence gets recorded to Logic. NOT good. Anyone know of a parameter in Logic or the Motu that must be set in order for this to work properly ?

Since no one has has jumped in here....

If you're using the ADAT as only a set of converters and not transferring from tape, there's no need to attach the
ADAT sync cable. So, do away with that.

I haven't used the MOTU 828MKII before so bear with me.

When using the ADAT as converters...the ADAT has to be the master clock. With RME hardware, I have to manually switch my hardware (using a software applet) to sync to the incoming ADAT lightpipe clock.

Is this something that needs to be done on the MOTU, or does it auto-sync to the ADAT lightpipe clock?
Make sure the 828 is synced to the ADAT and you're not running two independent clocks. Logic/MOTU sampe rate should match the ADAT's sample rate.

Ahhh after speking to a Motu tech, mentioning the ADAT was a BLACKFACE old schooler... The answer was to use the 9pin ADAT sync cable and set the MOTU 828 mkII to adat 9pin sync because the light pipe was 1st gen and generally used to transfer audio to and fro ADATS only and syncing was handled by the 9pin. IT WORKS !!!

Hey Rexy, thanks for the followup, good to know. Don't think I've ever transferred from one of the original models.
