Heat: 15" 1.8GHz MBP vs. 17" 2.4GHz MBP ??

I have one of the original 15" MacBook Pros running a 1.8GHz Core Duo CPU. I ordered a 17" MacBook Pro with the 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo over the weekend (and it may be here tomorrow!).

I'm curious about the heat generated by the newer model. I recall reading somewhere that the C2D models run cooler than the CD models, but I have not first hand experience. On my 15", I've basically resigned myself to pretty much never letting it sit on my legs as it just gets too hot.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Hi there. First post on here. Got my MBP a couple of weeks ago and it is a lot hotter than my PBs. Like the other guy said, it isnt quite as hot as the one you have just now, but it is still pretty **** hot... Installed SMc Fan control as suggested by others on here but see how it goes. My MBP can run as hot as like 90 degrees sometimes, even like 75 when just surfing the web. Gonna get an I-Rain I-Lap stad. Hope this helps some
