How do I cut 30 sec. snippet from song, then fade in and out?

In Garageband where the name of the song is below where it says "Tracks" there are 5 tiny icons. Click on the last one, which is a little triangle. Now you will see the Track Volume bar, which works much the same way as the audio track in iMovie. You can click to volume bar to add points, drag up or down to fade in or out. You can get very specific control by zooming in on the track with the slider at the lower left of the window.

Here's a workaround. Bring it into iMovie, cut it and create your fades. Share/Export to full quality Quicktime. If you have Quicktime Pro you can extract the audio -- if not, try dragging the QT file into iDVD.

If you complete the edit in Garageband, just select Share > Send Song to iTunes. This will make your new version accessible from the Media Pane inside your iDVD project.

Prior to using iTunes purchased music in iDVD6, burn an audio cd with the music you want to use in your movie and then import from that....
