I have my Microsoft Intellimouse configured so that the two extra buttons on the left side do the actions "Back" and "Forward". This works fine in IE7 and FF2 but Safari Beta ignores the settings and does nothing.

Mac OS X (10.4.9),
Use Windows XP at work
For my Microsoft Intellimouse I just mapped the back button to the keystroke "ctrl+[" and the forward button to the keystroke "ctrl+]" for safari and iTunes only. Not sure if all intelli mice allow for specific application mapping or not though.
Have the same issue. kind of a pain couse now I/you have a button(s) for nothing, all you can do at the moment is "Crtl+[" (back) and "Ctrl+]" (foward)
personaly I just click-it or just mark a page for "SnapBack".
Be nice to be able to customize buttons.
Of course it's possible to configure the mouse buttons in Windows Control Panel so that the buttons you want to use for Back/Forward emulate the keystrokes "Ctrl+[" and "Ctrl+]" and that then works, but of course the buttons then no longer do the Back/Forward function in other browsers!
What Safari
should be doing is listening to the Back / Forward Windows events and handling them accordingly.
Hello, I have a Logitech MX310 Optical Mouse and the back and forward buttons do not work either. I have read how you can change the buttons to work on Safari by reprograming the buttons but in doing so the forward and back buttons will not work in Firefox or Internet Explorer. I am new to forums and am wondering if the Safari tech people will answer this question for us or do you just hope this problem is addressed and fixed in the next Beta version?
Hello again,
My forward and back button now work on my MX310 Logitech Optical Mouse. I went to Logitech and downloaded the newest version for my mouse. When I was putting in the newest version it told me I had the newest version but I told it to go ahead and load it anyway. The mouse now works like it should. I hope this is a good fix.
