Desktop path

Hi there,

I am writing an Installer package in PackageMaker, and was wondering, how do I point to the desktop of a user? I have tried Users/~/Desktop and ~/Desktop but they will not work.

Can someone please help me?

Cheers,
Ricky.

As a general rule, it's probably not necessary to automatically put anything on somebody's Desktop. A program icon would go better in the Dock, and everything else either in the application bundle, or in the Preferences or Application Support folders in the Library.

For general purposes, the path ~/Desktop will work within a shell (which knows to expand the tilde into the user's home directory). If you use it in one of the scripts that the Installer will run for your package, it should function. Where did you put the "~/Desktop" when it didn't work?

This is a pretty good intro to the PackageMaker.
