HomePod 2nd Gen Performance

The bass in the second-generation HomePods is virtually non-existent. Apple should provide manual control for the HomePod EQ, as it is not just a smart speaker but also a high-definition speaker, as Apple promotes it. If the option to reduce bass is available, then the option to increase bass should also be there. The first generation had much better bass, and since the bass module in both models seems to be the same, Apple can surely offer users the option to adjust it.

Is this loss of bass something that just happened to it, or is it an observation when comparing to the OG? Try updating it to 17.5 to see if this changes anything. Correct that there is no EQ setting. Reduce Bass was a feature added later. You can submit a suggestion: Feedback - HomePod - Apple

The bass is much lesser compared to the OG. Plus everyone preference is different so why not add an EQ since it is supposed to be a high fedility speaker and everyother brand provides an EQ. Have update to 17.5 but i hear no noticible difference in the sound balance.

The gen 2 has less tweeters 5 vs 7 the OG had. It’s designed to calibrate to where it’s placed in the room. It should be on a solid surface at least 6” away from walls or objects. You can try repositioning it to see if it improves. The surface it’s on may change how it sounds as well. Real, denser wood will enhance the bass.
