As I was digging in Activity Monitor, I saw this strange process called 'tsphotoctill', that is using 49% of my CPU. Could somebody tell me what it is and could I end the process, without glitching the OS?
Mac mini (M2 Pro, 2023)
Looks like some kind of Photos, Cloud Photos or a Third-party Photos process.
I suspect that it is from a third-party photos app, because a search of tsphotoctil came up empty.
Most times, that activity will eventually sub-side once the process has completed syncing or updating.
Plus it is better to allow that activity to complete, instead of trying to stop or force quit the process.
To help find out what that process is,
Download and run the free version of EtreCheckPro, from > https://etrecheck.com/en/index.html
Then port the Report, as per > How to use the Add Text Feature When Post… - Apple Community
Most likely a user installed app. You can find more details about it by double clicking the process and choosing the Sample button. You may be able to identify the app by the path shown for the process. Otherwise the EtreCheck report may be necessary if it is launching on startup.
