iphone 4 Mail messages (no sender) no subject

My inbox has four mysterious messages that I can't delete. They all say

(No Sender)
(No Subject)
This message has no content

Date: 12-31-69

can't open or delete any of them. These messages are not on my mobileme cloud.

Thanks for the help. Chad

I have been experiencing this problem for the past 3 months on both my iPad and iTouch. Constantly having to clear these messages with the above methods is NOT a fix! Since this problem seems to have been around for about 3 years at least, it seems that Apple will go on doing their usual thing when they do not have a fix - they will ignore it.

Is it only happening to users of gmail?

I had the same problem with my Gmail-account on my iPhone 5 and iPad (since iOS 7):

(No Sender)

(No Subject)

This message has no content

Sometimes my Gmail Account was "inactive" and i couldn't open it.

I haven't read all the answears, so it may be that my solution was mentioned before.

A solution, which worked for me was the following one:

When I looked into my Gmail Account (on the computer, not on the iPhone or iPad) there was a subfolder (label) called "INBOX/***" It can be found in "settings"->"labels" (I use the german version of Gmail, so I am not sure if this is correct)

This subfolder "INBOX/***" was empty, so I deleted it.

Since then all my Gmail mails have a sender and a subject.

Hope this helps!

Im sure you have already tried these, but I just had to put them out there to make sure. Not everyone has found the same solution to this problem.

1. Delete the gmail account on the iphone

- recreate the account, NOT Selecting GOOGLE as the mail choice, select OTHER and insert the email account information manually.

- These are the settings I know work on the iPhone 5 with iOS 7.0.6:

A. Input Name: "Your Name"

B. Input Email: "Your gmail email address"

C. Input Password: "Your gmail email password"

D. Input Description: "Anything to distinguish this gmail from your other email accounts"

E. Select "IMAP" at the top.

F. Input Incomming Mail Server info:

- Host Name: "imap.gmail.com"

- Username: "full gmail email address"

- Password: "gmail password"

G. Input Outgoing Mail Server:

- Host Name: "smtp.gmail.com"

- Username: "full gmail email address"

- Password: "gmail password"

H. Tap "Next"

I. Tap "Save"

Let me know if this doesn't work for you.
