Will the iPad ever get flash support?

I find many web sites using flash components and I am unable to use these sites. Many videos will not play and Facebook uses a flash control to upload photos to your wall so I can not even upload photos I have on my iPad through Facebook. I can go to my photo and push it to Facebook but you can not leave a comment by doing it this was or at least I see on obvious way to do this. I will have to say I am very dissatisfied with my iPad 2 because of this. Playing videos is one of Apples Bragging points yet a lot of the web sites I visit I can not watch the videos from my iPad.

That is simple to answer, because it is the best tablet out there. My post was relating to the subject at hand and never did I state that the device had any flaws in design or its capability to perform. I did how ever state that "I" personally would not pay the price for a device that would limit my use of flash (as many others have before me). Also, it is comonly known that many people will just buy an apple device just to have the latest new "toy" I.E people who upgraded from the iPhone 4 to the 4S. In my opinion there were not significant changes made. Again, the iPad is the best tablet out (my opinion) but flash is integrated in my everyday life (as many other colleagues of mine). I fell I can do anything the iPad can do on my iPhone. Hope this answers your question :) also, if it was not a "mistake" we would not be having this conversation, nor would there be a great deal of people trying to get around the flashplayer issue via hacking the device ect. I feel I must say again that this and my previous response are all my opinions as there are many apple fanatics that will defend it blindly to facts.

And if (big if) Adobe had created a workable version of Flash for iOS devices

Actually, they have made a Flash Player that works on ios, and you have Flash on your iPad right now. It's called Adobe Air and it's bundled inside numerous apps you already use.

Adobe AIR internally uses Adobe Flash Player as the runtime environment

Apple does not mind all of these Apps http://swfhead.com/blog/?p=1416 (small percentage of total) being in the appstore and running on the Adobe Flash Player.

They just don't like it being accessed via the browser, where they can not proprietarize it, monetize it, or use it as a means to "lock" you to ios.

Though I have to admit, Apple fans seem much more reasonable than RIM fans, who don't seem to realize they are still touting a device/technology that has been usurped by the rest of the world, and slowly spiraling into oblivion. Apple's products are just annoying at times, that's all, and you can choose to buy or not to buy. And in the interest of full disclosure, I'm happy with my Macbook Pro, hate my co-issued Blackberry, and kind of laugh at the co-issued ipad.

Supporting the company's view, even if facts do not. Refreshingly, a lot of posts in Apple forums are quite critical of Apple. Unfortunately, however, a lot of things like this (Flash) are "take it or leave it" from the Apple perspective. I would rather have control over how my device runs, which is why I won't be buying ipads or iphones any time soon.

Smart move on your part then, but since this is a user-to-user technical support site I seriously doubt you have seen a lot of posts where people are critical of Apple. Exceptions are made for certain topics, such as Flash, but for the rules don't allow discussions regarding Apple polices.

I always suggest to people who want to customize themes every day or do, root their phone or tablet, swap out processers, etc. that Apple products are the last things they should be buying. Apparently you have now recognized this fact. This does not mean that you are wrong, Apple is wrong, their view is wrong, or anything. It just means you would prefer something different than Apple offers.

There are no "facts" that don't support Apple's view. The "fact" is they chose not to include Flash, Mr. Jobs released a letter explaining why he did not do so, Adobe has now dropped internal development of mobile Flash and closed that division, other companies at this date (no guarantees about the future) have Flash. But even having Flash they have not been able to make much of a dent in iPad sales.

So everyone can make their choice and live with them. And since you apparently do not have an iPad or iPhone (do you have any Apple products) why are you even here?

I have a company issued ipad 2 and wondered why it couldn't play same things as my RAZR. Fortunately, not my problem. I assumed some setting was wrong, but I'm glad I got answer quickly and appreciate your response. In deference to your civility, I'll simply note that my reasons for rooting go way beyond changing themes every day. All the adware and spyware and tracking is locked out on my device, unless I've chosen it to be there (Apple GPS, anyone). Those programs also suck memory and power like starved vampires. And yes, I don't trust "the man" and I'm a hacker. And thanks to my company, I now know I won't buy an ipad, though I was already headed that way. To each his own, as you so eloquently put. But I wont be buying any Steve Jobs (RIP) BS about "open architecture" any time soon. When Apple puts out a 24-bit/96Khz ipod, let me know and I'll sign up. For all they do well, there are other things at which Apple is lame, just like any big company. Music to the people - awesome. Music that doesn't sound like chipmunks? My reference monitors disagree. Not hating, just an example. And so I'm fair - not leaving all ports open by default: Apple - perfection. Microsoft - epic fail, hacker heaven....

How so??? You don't need to pay $1000 just to not use the Flash player if ios is detected, all you have to do is swap out the code on the fly. You are probably thinking about the Adobes streaming server, in which case if you don't want to pay that money, you can use the OpenSource version Red5. But at least Adobe made the effort. Apple is like a spoiled child in that it's there way or the highway. You don't like the decisions we are making for you and you want to make your own decisions??? Now you've gone to far and should look elsewhere.
