Will the iPad ever get flash support?

I find many web sites using flash components and I am unable to use these sites. Many videos will not play and Facebook uses a flash control to upload photos to your wall so I can not even upload photos I have on my iPad through Facebook. I can go to my photo and push it to Facebook but you can not leave a comment by doing it this was or at least I see on obvious way to do this. I will have to say I am very dissatisfied with my iPad 2 because of this. Playing videos is one of Apples Bragging points yet a lot of the web sites I visit I can not watch the videos from my iPad.

iPad 2, iOS 4.3.1

What in the **** are you talking about? You said Flash isn't going anywhere and I said in 2 years it will be a relic. If I am running a website and want my information/product, etc. to be visible to the widest audience why would I pay to have both an HTML5 site AND a Flash site. Just do the former and I save money.

This war is over for all but the shouting. And a lot of people seem to be able to do that.

Even Adobe knows it is over.

That's like saying when will people move away from IE and switch to Firefox or Chrome. It wont happen any time soon, so the real question is, will Apple finally give those Apple consumer that want Flash the option or will they continue to deny them that choice because they believe they no what's best for their customer base... kind of what they did with 4G. Personally I will never go back to a phone that has only 3G.

No, that isn't like IE to Firefox, or Chrome or Safari or Opera or anything of the kind. It is like saying websites will move away from proprietary Flash to open standards, just like they moved away from Realplayer. At least keep your analogies in the same ballpark.

The new iPad has 4G and I'm sure the next iPhone will too because by that time there will be sufficient hybrid chips available to conserve battery life. Many of the early bleeding edge 4G phones (and I'm talking LTE, not the Sprint WiMax or T-Mobile or AT&T labeling HSPA+ as 4G) had 3 separate radios which added to the size of the phone and sucked the battery dry. LTE is still fairly limited so it really isn't going to hurt Apple to wait and when they released the iPhone 4s in September there were no hybrid chips available. They surely weren't going to release a phone 40% bigger than the iPhone 4.

I see you are even late to this argument and apparently an Adobe Troll. Since Adobe has shut down their Mobile Flash unit how would you propose Apple would adapt Flash at this time?

No Deggie they wont. They will most likely concentrate on both. Because I don't believe they are so narrow minded as to only concentrate on apps for iOS because even though Apple made a killing with sales of over priced devices that cost a fraction to make, there are still many more non Apple devices in peoples hands. Unfortunately I have only learned enough HTML5 to make my Joomla movie component compatible with Android and iOS devices when they are detected and Flow Player (Flash Player) when they are not. But looking at the compatibility list, HTML5 still has a ways to go before it can compete with all the options I can do in ActionScript 3. And I believe Adobe is moving away from Flash for mobile in favor of Flex which still uses AS3/XML, so lighter, and should still be able to play videos. And then there's Adobe Air....

You sure you are not Randy Mars here under another name? Pretty sure you are.

I believe given the close working relationship between Disney and Apple they will. The tablet is the future (and present in terms of sales) can you point out to me the "many more" non-Apple tablets that are out there?

Good luck with your beliefs but I would really work harder on exploring other programming options if you make your living writing in Flash.

Now go post on Adobe sites somewhere.

Well I have to admit after upgrading from my LG P500 phone to my Samsung Galaxy SII, I now have to charge my phone every night instead of every 3rd night, but then with the big screen, 4G, the fact I now can see both my Internal and External Memory card when connecting to my PC, the introduction to Live Wallpapers, the ability to do video chat with yahoo messenger, streaming videos from my media center and watching videos I converted from my DVDs to H.264 avi files, I can't really complain.

From my understanding RealPlayer only played videos, but then I never used RealPlayer so it's possible it could do more. But if you want to compare Flash to RealPlayer, have at it. You will not when considering I do many more things with Flash then I would ever do with RealPlayer. Like for example creating a mini website with full SiteCatalyst tracking or getting back to the video player, creating a Flash player to play MP4 videos with multi sub titles chosen from a dynamically created menu, movie carousel effect similar to Youtube, and tracking using SiteCatalyst.

I came late to this argument because I just happened to stumble on this discussion when looking for something else. I'm surrounded by apple users at that for some reason still has to have a VM running Windows because of the limitations they have. And yes it does bring a smile to my face when every I show my friends with IPhones some new feature I discovered my phone can do that their can't. But I have to admit the zoom on the IPhone works pretty well, however even though my phone has that feature too, it's usually not necessary to use it.

Thrilled for you. That is whey there is more than one car, one television, one model headphones, etc. Glad you like yours.

I've never run Windows on any of my Macs.

Actually RealPlayer played audio files and dominated the market at one time. But other things came along and RealPlayer (which is not completely gone, just like vinyl records) and it faded out. Around the same time Adobe bought Flash and Shockwave, etc. and started using their proprietary software for programs etc. Worked much better before Adobe bought it, didn't have all the constant security updates...like the one that is out now.

If you don't have Apple products you are a troll. B'gone with you troll.
