Recently during an airplane flight I wanted to listen to my iPad with headphones. No sound. The iPad's internal speaker works just fine. In the car, I hooked a recharge/line out adapter and still no sound. This has never happened before. After some experimentation I found a reliable fix: start up Skype. For some reason it fixes everything. iOS 4.3.3

Suddenly last week, my earphones wouldn't work with my iPhone. At the Apple store, I waited about an hour for the Genius Bar. The genius flicked a setting and all was OK. I felt dumb, but I left with my ear phones working. Thinking the problem would never recur, I forgot what the fix was, and yesterday, the problem happened again. So for the first time ever, I went to this help exchange. Skype??? I couldn't believe it. But I really did not want to go back to the Apple Store, so I installed the Skype app, plugged in the earphones, and , they work! (BTW, this was not the Apple Genius solution.) No idea why the Skype fix works, but Thank You.

Head phones not working.
Just turned of IPad for a few minutes plunged in headphones turned IPad back on. Fixed!!
I had this problem, just worked out if you go into Settings > General > Accessibility > Turn Mono Audio On

I just found out how to solve this problem.
You will need to reset your iPad.You will probably want to do a backup of your content before you do this. There was no loss of content when I did it, but it never hurts to be overly careful.
Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
That's it! The iPad will reset and the headphone jack will work every time.
At least, that is what happened to me. I was pretty excited to have found the solution.

I Had the same problem... ipad didnt work with headphones... so i tured off the ipad and start it again.. sound works.. thanks brykakaero
Thanks for posting but none of these tips are fixing the issue. New iPad's earphones not working is not good Apple.
I've found that actually sometimes it's just that Bluetooth is turned off - you can't use headphones without it 🙂
I've tried all of the suggestions on this thread but none of them worked for me. Are there any other possible solutions before I take it to the Apple Store???
