How do I fix it!! I need help ASAP!
make a soft reset (read manual)
Try doing a hard reboot of the iPhone
1. hold the power and home buttons down
2. you will see the "swipe to turn off" screen come up... KEEP HOLDING THE BUTTONS
3. The screen will go black (turn off)... KEEP HOLDING THE BUTTONS
4. A white Apple logo will appear on the screen, now you can release the buttons. Let the iPhone boot... should only take a couple minutes.
Thank you DOGG! Worked like a charrm!
In the manual it is called "reset", and it is a soft reset because it does not affect user data etcetera. That's why I said "make a soft reset". It is not a "hard reset", that's what you do when you "restore" the iPhone.
My phone froze too. I kept waiting for my phone to be dead, it had been 6 hours. And now I just read your post and followed instructions 🙂 Thank you so much Dogg!!!!!!
I have been on the phone with verizon for about an hour and a half because my phone keeps freezing up. They had me soft boot, hard boot and nothing is working. They are going to order me a new phone which will take 3 weeks. My first iphone and look what happens. Really disappointed Apple.
Verizon ordering me a new phone because they could not figure it out and the tech tried to call apple but they were not answering. Prop busy. I wonder how many more people having this problem. I have to go back to my old thunderbolt.
Dogg, it worked like a charm on my iPhoe 4 with OS6. I didn't see the part about "swipe to turn off" but just kept holding the power and home buttons anyway. Eventually (maybe after 10 seconds of holding the buttons) the white apple popped up. I let go as instructed and it took about 20 seconds for the phone to reboot. No data loss or other changes thatI can see yet. I literally just did this so if there is any long term negative results, I'll repost. THANKS!
It works!!!
Thanks D0GG
Perform a minor factory reset/reboot. If you don't know how to do this, steps are as follows:
1. Hold down the top button and home button until screen turns black.
2. Let go when the Apple sign appears in the centre of your iPhone screen.
3. Try to unlock your phone.
If it still doesn't work, personally I would take it into a Genius bar in an Apple store near you. They can fix it there!!
Hope this helps x
Jay
