iPhone 4S problem with microphone feature to record messages, rather than typing them

I have the exact same problem! It worked fine for the first week, but no longer. :-(

My new iphone 4s is doing the same thing, it was working fine yesterday and i have only had it for a week.

please let me know if anyone has an answer as to why its not working. Siri still woks fine.

I'm having the same problem...my phone and my wife's phone both. Any ideas? Just started this afternoon.

I'm almost 100% sure it's a 5.0.1 issue because 2 weeks ago I had my old iphone4s which had iOS 5 on it and the microphone worked like a charm, due to contract issues I was forced to get another iphone4s that came to me delivered with iOS 5.0.1 preinstalled and that's when my microphone stopped working, thus iOS 5.0.1 is the problem

We've been running ours since the end of October with no problems...now both act up today, very strange.

Well in October, 5.0.1 was not released yet, it was released around Nov 10th so you should check and see if you're iPhones are updated with the latest iOS 5.0.1, just do settings-general-software update, if they have iOS 5.0.1 installed that could mean its the problem

Yeah, we're current. Updated as soon as it was available.

O well in that case when did you start noticing the microphone problems

We are having the same problem here. Got our phones on 11/25 and they worked perfectly until today. I thought it was just us. Why would it all happen on the same day? Do you think it is a network issue? Confused! And also bummed! I hope they fix it.

Same problem here. Phone has been working great till this afternoon, now just three dots after we try to text using voice. Siri works fine.

iPhone 4S IOS 5.0.1

Bought iPhone 4S last Tuesday (iOS 5.0.1) and notice this problem this afternoon. This is only the microphone on the screen keyboard. Siri works and can send a transcribed message.

Hellooooo Apple....Anyone out there????? This is not good, we are all going through the same thing....please fix it NOW
