iPhone 4S problem with microphone feature to record messages, rather than typing them

I have a new iphone 4S and started using the mircophone record feature to create and send messages. However, today the microphone feature will not translate my messages into text to send - I'll record a message and the iphone will "churn," but never show the text for me to review and send. I am still able to type my messages and send - just can't use the microphone record feature, which is what I wanted with the iPhone! I just got this phone this week and it was working great for the first couple of days. All software is up to date. Help please!

Mine went just a little different. I bought it at the begining of Feb. and it worked fine for a week. One time I plugged it into my comp. to charge and a text box came up. I can't remember exactly what it said other than some info about an update, heck I can't even recall what I did as far as making the text go away but after it did the microphone key itself was no longer there in the text window. It was replaced by a few end sentence options (period, question mark, etc). I just barely restored it to get the microphone button back and it worked... but now when I try to use it, it does the exact same thing that most everyone on this thread is experiencing.... balls
