iPhone 4S problem with microphone feature to record messages, rather than typing them

Hello did u notice the problem before this afternoon, im trying to figure out if this occurred today or maybe before today

nope. it worked this morning and then not this afternoon. and i seriously had just gotten done raving about the feature at the at&t store moments before!

This is SO weird! I had the same problem yesterday as everybody else (Siri worked fine, messages and notes did not). This morning, everything's working fine. Since I haven't done anything to my iPhone since the problem appeared, now I am wondering if the bug had something to do with the calendar or the time of day. VERY WEIRD!!

I had the same problem and stumbled on the fix. Somehow my Siri was stuck. I gave Siri a command to look for Mexican restaurants and it listed some Mexican restaurants. Siri worked. Then, I went back to the microphone for a text message and magically it was working again. Try that and see if it works for you.

Mine went just a little different. I bought it at the begining of Feb. and it worked fine for a week. One time I plugged it into my comp. to charge and a text box came up. I can't remember exactly what it said other than some info about an update, heck I can't even recall what I did as far as making the text go away but after it did the microphone key itself was no longer there in the text window. It was replaced by a few end sentence options (period, question mark, etc). I just barely restored it to get the microphone button back and it worked... but now when I try to use it, it does the exact same thing that most everyone on this thread is experiencing.... balls

c stokes - thanks for the input. I tried it out on my phone (asked Siri for the time) and just like that Siri decided to work in my text messaging again. thanks.
