How do I hide notes in Mail inbox in Mountain Lion

How can I stop notes from cluttering up my email? I want my notes to continue syncing between Notes applications on Mac and iPhone/iPad.

There were settings to stop notes from showing up in Mail in previous versions of Mac OS. Anybody figure out how to do this in Mountain Lion?

Thanks for the suggested solution, but it does not work. The System Preferences allows notes syncing to be turned off completely which does not help. What I need is:

1) I want my email to continue syncing

2) I want my notes to continue syncing

3) But I do not want my notes showing up in email

I want notes showing up in the Notes app on Mac/iPhone/iPad. I do not want them showing up in Apple Mail.

There used to be a way to do this.

In Mountain Lion, your notes should not appear in the Mail sidebar like they did in Lion and earlier systems. The Notes app should have automatically taken over the display of notes.

Do you have any add-ons installed in Mail? Try rebuilding the mailbox and see what happens (Mailbox > Rebuild). If that does nothing, consider going to System Preferences > Mail, Contacts, & Calendars and unchecking iCloud. Let it do its thing and confirm that the account isn't shown in Mail any more. Then quit Mail and turn on iCloud again. Now is it gone when you launch Mail?

I jhave the same problem. Note that I am not using iCloud to sync notes, but I am using Gmail to sync notes. Maybe that has something to do with the problem of many, many copies of notes showing up in my in-box. Regarding the in-box, only one of the duplicates has the label "Notes". All the rest have no label, except that they are in the in-box.

Same problem here.

I have 3 Macs, 2 with Mountain Lion on and 1 with Lion (can't update 'cause mac is too old).

In Mountain Lion everything works fine, I have my notes synced with ipad, iphone, and two macs.

On my older mac (iMac White 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo), all my notes are shown in mail.

When I select them and move them to the Note folder, they keep coming back. Also, everything singel content that is modified in a note, makes the note appear in my mailbox.

This is very anoying.

I tried to install Mail 6.2, but that's not possible, as 6.2 only works with mountain lion.

is this Apple being a bad *** and forcing people to buy a new computer by hassling them with these kind of sh*t?

or is this a solution for this matter?

think different?

In Lion's Mail app., I just right clicked on the iCloud Notes folder in the sidebar and seleted the option to delete it.

I was warned that the action couldn't be undone - oh well... But apparently no damage was done. I am still able to see, use and save iCloud notes in the notes app in both Lion and Mountian Lion - I don't have any iOS devices anymore; so I can't test it there.

Also, I guess most people know this but I somehow missed it. In Mountain Lion's mail app., there is no Notes folder; if you want to see your notes in ML, you need to open the Notes app. Go figure.

I have been having similar issues with syncing notes, but do not want them to show up in my 'inbox' either.

I have tried both methods above in Lion:

1. (Thanks Chris Habig)...This didn't solve the issue!

2. Mail -> Preferences -> mailbox behaiors tab and uncheck "show notes in inbox"...I cannot do this as it won't let me save the setting, comes up with a message- The “Incoming Mail Server” field cannot be empty.

The 'Incoming Mail Server' field is not empty, although it is greyed out (p03-imap.mail.me.com) so cannot change it? Anyone else having this issue and know how to resolve it?
