I don't have a home office - nor do I have any experience in printers the way some reviewers do. When it comes to printing, all I care is that it actually prints and doesn't jam.
Printers are so inexpensive these days and my old printer was a great Cannon that did it's job - cost about 80 bucks when I purchased. Then I bought an iPad and tried ALL the free printing apps - and even paid for an app that swore it would work with any printer. NOPE.
So, when this printer came up to test - I jumped on it! WOW. Not only is it so easy to set up, even I can do it (didn't even need the disk). It prints anywhere from my iPad and my iPhone. I also love the double sided printing and never realized how much double siding printing I actually do. It's great for long recipes. The photo aspect of it is sharp and clear. I LOVE The scanner and though I rarely use a fax - it's nice to know it's available so I don't have to drive to my local media store. For the price - it's amazing.
It's also super fast compared to my Cannon and super quiet.
The newer HP printers work very well - I have one and have been very pleased. Here is a current list of those that work:
Well, that's a lot like asking "What car should I buy?" There is not one right answer.
Here's a helpful article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
Not sure about the best, however, HP's ePrint enable printers are AirPrint compatible.
I use Photosmart Premium C310. I can use it with iPad and iPhone.
Is it a good printer? Meh. Does the job, but for any heavy work I rely on HP Laserjet due to cost effectiveness.

There is no simple answer. Do you have a favorite brand? Do you prefer laser or inkjet? What do you want to use printouts for?
Take a look at <iOS: AirPrint 101>.

Epson has done a great job in supporting iOS devices with their wifi printers. For a long time there wasn't a decent printer for iPads for under $100 or even $150. Now you can get something like the Epson Expression Home XP-410 for well under $100.
The Brother Work Smart is the best printer for the iPad hands down. With airprint and wireless support it will be the only printer you ever need.
I completely agree. Brother printers have long supported Airprint. I specifically like the Work Smart MFCJ870DW due to its wide range of features and low price.
