I managed to crack the screen of my 4S - Genius Bar charged a one off £120 and replaced the phone completely. It seems you can't jut replace the glass. I don't know if the same applies to the 5...good luck...keep us posted!

Thankfully I have the 5 now which seems just a bit more robust - rather than being completely made of glass!

actually looks pretty easy to do it DIY (esp with an engineer hubby!) just got to wait for someone to start selling replacement screens, that is if Apple are disinclined to replace it for me.

Have got an appointment at the genius bar Monday (nothing available til then) I will post updates...

They may replace the phone as a courtesy they have been none to do that from time to time, it depends on the rep you get and how you come across (not arrogant or angry, tears help). Keep us updated with your progress, it will be useful to other members, others will be no doubt be breaking there screens.

Hey... well I took it into apple and since I didin't purchase apple care they said that I would have to buy a new phone... 299.00. I went ahead and bought a new phone bec. my screen was pretty hard to see but it still worked fine. I read that the iphone 5 screens are easier and cheaper to repair? Oh well.. I bought a new phone and ordered a protector off of amazon since apple still isn't selling covers for iphone 5. Anyways I also heard you can take it into a second hand shop that repairs phones and they will do if much cheaper.. but it will void you warrenty.

Update: OK, due to my lack of patience, I was waiting at our local Apple store at 9am this morning, doors opened and I batted my eyes and smiled sweetly at the youngest, cutest looking member of staff (didn't think it'd hurt my case!) And the wonderful chap agreed it didn't look like it had been dropped or abused, so promptly replaced it with a brand new handset. I am very, very grateful but was surprised to find, oddly enough, they don't have any cases in store yet for the i5! So I managed to get a cheap and nasty thing off the market, which'll do for now - I'm not taking any chances, esp as I didn't even drop the first one!

Check out www.ubreakifix.com My son broke his iPod screen and they fixed it for $100 in 10 minutes. They're certified and do awesome work. They have shops all over the country, so you should be able to find one.

***** about your 5, sorry to hear that. 😟 Good luck!

Someone didn't read the entire thread. 🙂

She returned her phone this morning in store for a brand new one (using her female charm of course)! 😉
