iPhone 5 Showing incorrect Time. Unable to send text messages.

Ok here's my problem. My time on my iPhone is incorrect. I check my settings it's on automatic and it is set to my Hawaii time zone. I am unable to send text messages because I believe the time is not the same as the server. When I try to send a text it says Go to Date & time settings. This happens at least once a day. My time would be incorrect for 10 mins then go back to correct time. This happens on LTE and on WiFi. I also have rebooted the iPhone. One last thing. I check my battery usage. It's says 4,294,967,278 days on Standby. I guess the time is messing up my stats. Anyone have the same problem? Please help. If not I hope new ios update fix this.

Having the same problem with a brand new iPhone 5 from Sprint. The time is off by exactly one hour. When it is off the timezone field under Settings>General>Date&Time> says "etc/GMT+6" instead of "Chicago" which is what it says when the time is correct. Turning "Set Automatically" fixes for a few hours but then it reverts to being an hour off. I'm getting pretty frustrated because something like the Time affects so many of the phones vital functions.

Late July 2013 this began happenning to both my and my wife's ATT iPhone 5. Phone was purchased in Sept 2012, and we've both had every model iPhone since the original. We live in a remote community with its own ATT tower. Problem only occurs at home and with time set to automatic. Every day or so for about a week phone would reset to GMT while at home. I believe this problem is a carrier problem, not a phone problem.

Same problem with 5C ATT.

Time drifts off by hours, when I go to airplane mode and then back out it resets to correct time. Also if I turn off sync auto and then turn back on it resets to proper time. However it never stays on proper time, and it's not off by an even number of hours (like wrong time zone) but a completely random amount.

Also, and I don't think this has been mentioned above, my timer doesn't work. It counts down but then randomly goes to a new number.

We have 1 other 5C and 2 5's at the same house, same carrier, but only 1 phone is affected.

Any ideas? I've tried various reboots and tweaks mentioned here but so far nothing has worked.

Also if I set time manually it doesn't advance at all. Just stays on the time I set.

Thanks.

Had the exact same problem as you pgauthi. Except I have Verizon. If it's under warranty, just take it in to the apple store and don't leave until they give you a new phone. The first time I went in they tried to tell me it was an issue of moving between time zones and cell towers and that it was a network problem. For some of the people on this discussion, that is probably the case. However when the time is off by a random amount of time, then once in a while it decides to update, that is not a problem with the network. I went in a second time and told them I just wanted to have the phone replaced. It was under warranty, and wasn't working as it was supposed to, so I wanted a new phone. They finally gave me a replacement and low and behold, the new phone works. So, it's not a problem with the network, at least in my case, and it sounds like it's the same for you. The time is pulled from the network's cell towers, but that doesn't automatically mean it's a network problem. I would guess in our case, it's most likely that something is wrong with the phone that is preventing it from sending requests to the network to fetch the time.

If you're under warranty, go in to the apple store and don't leave without a new phone. If you're not under warranty, 😢 cry.

thank you. Have changed back to Halifax as time zone because on auto the little wheel just goes round. I live on an island in the Caribbean so am on Digicell network. Think it must be a phone glitch. This works. Appreciate you help. It was driving me nuts.

Wonder if this is also why although my phone shows correct time occasionally I get texts that are three hours later even when I know their clock is set correctly. Weird where it shows up.
