iPad mini won't automatically connect to wifi

I've got a new iPad mini that is refusing to automatically connect to my home wifi network. I have to do it manually each time. However when I took it into the apple shop today it automatically connected to their network. I have a netgear router and the iPad is running iOS6 which seems to have caused problems for a lot of iPhone and iPad users - should I try downgrading the firmware? Anyone else with this problem?

Go to any of your friend's house. Connect to their network. Turn your ipad off. Then check if you need to reenter password. Check on one more network. If problem is only on your network, you would be waiting for Apple's help, until you die. When you mark someone's question as answered, it does not help other people looking for solutions. As far as I know when you get new 400 dollars computer and have old 15 dollars router, chances are, computer is not a problem. But what the heck do I know.

That must have been fat finger syndrome - I didn't mean to say my problem was solved and now I can't work out how to turn it off. Can you tell me have to change it back to unsolved?

My router isn't old - I replaced it just a couple of weeks ago and it works perfectly with my mac desktop, my children's MacBooks and my husband's iPhone so it does seem to be an issue with the iPad mini.

Did you rename network from default router name to something original? You can't undo solved answer, as far as I know.

That is the router's job to build correct routing table for all devices. Just cause it can't build correct table for device number 5 or 10, does not mean it works correctly. JMHO.

I have the same problem. Thought I had a faulty iPad mini so took it back and got a replacement which has the same problem (it did have a dead pixel so needed replacing anyway :-)). All my other apple devices work fine. Just took it round to my friends who has exactly the same router and it connects automatically to his !?! Am going to compare my router settings to his to see if any differences but as far as I know they are both set to wpa2 security.

My new iPad mini worked for 6 days on my home network (Charter cable with Airport Express). In the middle of an iMessage conversation, I had delivery failures and it would not reconnect to wi-fi. I have done everything listed here and more to fix the problem. I was able to sit within 3 feet to connect as a result of my efforts. After that, I called Apple Support and was on the phone with them for 4 hours. We tried even MORE venues to correct the problem. Part of our diagnostics included my taking the mini to work to log into that network--no problem. I called Charter. I went and bought a new modem, as they thought mine was too old to handle the speed they were sending. WE TRIED EVERYTHING. They are sending me a new iPad mini now and of course, there are no guarantees that it will work on my home network. Am I the only person that HAD great wi-fi connection and then LOST it?

Well, fromsouth, I am going to leave that to the engineers at APPLE. We were able to run speedtests on both networks. They have the results. The opposite consideration is that my home network flawlessly has delivered to 4+ Apple devices. The lost to the mini was a sudden event. I think that eventually we are going to see Apple admitting to an antenna problem with this batch of minis.
