iphone 5 screen goes black

On two occasions the screen on my iphone 5 (ATT) has gone black. The only response I can get from the home button and power button is for it to take a screen shot of the blackness.

This occured most recently while completing a voice call.

After a few minutes the phone seems to return to normal.

Is this an indication of a problem?

actually the issue come from the proximity sensor which is turning off your screen during call because if not you will dial tone with your cheeks the issue is probably hardware

since the 5c have a softer housing sometime the frame bend and the screen on which the proximity sensor can slightly move and this can cause the proximity sensor stop working properly and thinking you still have the phone on your cheeks so the screen stay locked....
