I have lost the sound on my IPad. Does anyone know how I can check the problem?

I had a similar issue where my sound had gone, I had keyboard clicks but no other sound, the volume control would move but still no sound.

Everything was normal in the settings area.

I found I had left my iPad in Airplay mode to Apple TV. Switched back to iPad and all AOK.

Hope that helps anyone else as a quick check.

I had the same problem where I could hear no sound from headphones or speakers on my new iPad 2.

I actually took my iPad in to an Apple store and it was replaced under warranty at the Genius Bar. However, after restoring from an iCloud backup the sound was still not working.

The solution ended up being very simple:

1) Open Settings

2) Select "General"

3) Select "Accessibility"

4) Toggle "Mono Audio" under "Hearing" on and off. Immediately sound was restored.

Hope this works for someone else!

Old thread new symptom...

I have had the iPad lost sound syndrome several times, no sound at all unless headphones plugged in or docked, no sound at all, volume control missing all sorts.

Recently it happened again only this time I remembered the sequence of events leading up to it.

Our friends at King and Candy Crush were to blame, after a recent app refresh I turned off both music and sound effects in the Candy Crush App so as not to annoy anyone... It killed the sound, volume controls and audio in everything, video, music, you tube,

As soon as I re-enabled effects and music in Candy Crush all sound functions were back in all other Apps!

So for me at least, check all apps make sure none are set to mute effects or music as one bad app can break it for all of them!

I have tried everything I know how to get my speakers to work since the upgrade 7.03 no luck. I have an iPad 3. Now I know these units don't last forever but is much as we pay for them they should've lasted through the upgrade . This is so frustrating . This sound does work if I use external speaker or a headphone , I believe those speakers should be working without all of this hassle . If there is as many people having problems as I have seen online, Apple should take care of this I am thinking . It is so aggravating when I have talkEd to Apple they only suggestion that they had was to buy another iPad . My iPad was not that old when the problem first occurred.
