Im having same issues, turned almost everything off at first then wiped phone and started from scratch but restored from itunes, battery drain is better that it was right after update but still much worse thand with 6.1.3. I shouldnt have to change settings that have been the same since i had the phone because of an update IMO. Apple should have these updates tested thoroughly and not just rush them out. I think the reason they keep pushing these updates is to make sure all the jail breaking is gone not for any other purpose and they are destroying a good product

Battery drain on iphone 5 with ios 6.1.4...it is pathetic....

I had upgraded the OS on my iphone 5 to iOS 6.1.4 and now I am facing extraordinary battery drain. I left my phone at 35% battery life while going to sleep and when i wake up, after 8 hours, it has gone down to 8% and less. This was not the case before with the earlier version of iOS or my iphone 3gs. I have tried some tips and suggestions but I dont think those are really helping. Could someone please help me out as to what should be done in this case.

Hope Apple is listening and intend to do something. My phone is brand new and not even a month old.

Just a feedback...

Almost 1 month now from the 6.1.4 upgrade, and things look a lot better, even having internet (at top speed) and applications online all the time. I can`t help thinking the problem was mostly at the operator, not the iPhone... perhaps 6.1.4`s just demanded more from a fragile or overloaded network. Go figure...

It is still not even close from when it was new, but now I`m finishing my day at 60%. Better than 15% from a couple of weeks ago.

Anyways, Apple must interfere in this forum topic and let us know what`s happening.

My phone went from 100% to 70% in 1 hour.

I reset the phone to the factory settings and installed a few necessary apps.

I installed a cpu monitor and it runs at 52% much of the time, and after about 15 minutes the CPU goes down to less than 10%. But if I do anything at all on the phone, it goes back up to 52% or more and stays there for a while.

I've turned off everything I can think of and it does not bring the processor down. Turning Airplane Mode on does not affect the processor, it still runs at 52%.

My conclusoins: There is something inherently wrong with iOS 6.1.4. It is not my apps. It is not my services.

The frustrating thing about this (beyond getting a half day of battery life) is that we don't really know if Apple is aware of this issue and is working on it. Why can't they simply issue a statement that reads:

We are aware that some users are experiencing rapid battery drain after upgrading to iOS 6.1.4. We are replicating the issue in our labs and are working hard to come up with a solution. This issue is being given highest priority and we expect to have a solution very soon.

I've never understood why companies like Apple seem afraid to say "We know something is wrong." For 90% of us, we'd be relieved that we knew Apple was aware of the issue and was working on it. As it now stands, we have no idea.

Another beef: Apple must have thousands of employees using the iPhone. Don't they give these new iOS releases to their employees to test before they release it? I have to believe they would have found this battery drain bug before issuing it to millions of us poor users!

Apple is losing my respect over three three specific continuing issues I have with them, but more because of how they handle these situations: silence or denial.

Ive got the solution. Hope it helps for you too. Delete the official Facebook and the Facebook Messenger App!

If you really cant live without it. Close the apps everytime you open it at the multitasking bar(double click homebutton). The facebook apps wake up every few seconds and do something. That story is true and no clue, read here for more information about this topic:

It takes a lot of processor power at the background.

I Don't even have Facebook installed never did. I brought my phone to apple and they ran diagnostics said everything was fine. She wiped my phone and said not to restore well after that for two days I got the could not activate cellular data issues. So I just restored from iTunes. Ill take battery issues till apple addresses this instead of no data
