This TV App is so buggy, and as aglick I ran into the same problem on my overseas flight. Being a developer I just reprogrammed the Videos app to work as it should. It's now on the App Store for free so give it a try, no more buggy TV trouble, just good old offline watching of movies and TV Shows.

The new TV app is rather a mess. The solution that worked for me was to start in iTunes and select all of the home videos I wanted to restore to my iPad. I used the Get Info command to retag them (Options Tab) as "Movies", and then re-synced the iPad. All of them appeared -and stayed available.

A royal pain, and a great loss to being able to organize your video library. I don't see why Apple felt the need to take away the Videos app before TV was ready for prime time. 😟

I have this same issue. The 'load free stuff from iTunes' solution below did NOT work for me. I have a ME898LL/A iPad Air with 128G and wifi only. I've tried the solutions in this thread and still no Home Videos even though iTunes shows them as loaded on the iPad. The new TV app has a bug.

I sent a bug report to Apple.

Does anyone have any other work arounds? Getting on a flight later this week and it would be cool if I could get this to work again.

I had same problem on my iPad Air 2 (not my iPhone 7+). One person suggested reverting back to iOS 10.11 But then you have to manually restore/sync if you had already backed up with iOS10.2 . Another person got it to work by downloading something (free) from the store (iTunes or TV app?). I tried resetting my iPad (erase everything and restore from backup, then sync. It was taking too long and I saw the reply suggesting reverting back so I interrupted the sync. Then I saw the reply suggesting downloading from the store. Some files only partially loaded because of the interrupt. Had to delete from library, sync, add file to library and then sync. Did process several times to get all damaged files. But that did the trick and I can access my videos again. Sorry for the long winded reply.

I called AppleCare and discussed this with them, spending about two hours on the phone trying various remedies. It was obvious that unless I wanted to do a workaround using VLC, nothing was going to work. So the tech support person (at this point I was talking to a supervisor) had me take screen shots of my iMac and my iPad, per specific directions from the engineers, and passed the information along to them so that they could see what was happening. They are working on it and will come out with a solution in the next update or so. No reason why we can't keep bugging them, though.

At first the solution offered by Finiii above didn't work for me. But it worked once I clicked the 'Select All' button in the movies section of iTunes and then did another sync. Then it worked. Thanks Finiii!

So the step are:

- go to iTunes and select all Home Videos

- Command I

- Under Options change the file type to Movie

- Now go to iTunes main page and select your iPod

- Go to Movies and check 'Select All'.

- Sync

And all should be good.

Fixed!. But it takes a little drudge work. Most of my videos were not from iTunes. Either ripped from DVDs I own, or home made videos. So they were listed under Home Videos. Something in the 10.2 update process moved them to the Movies folder in iTunes but did not update the library file. So iTunes could not find them during sync. Here's the fix. In iTunes open Movies or Home Videos (depending on where the videos were before). Switch to List view. In the left most column you will see an exclamation point by the missing videos. Double click on that video. You will get a dialog saying the video can't be found. Click the Locate button. Then navigate to the (in my case) Movies folder. Navigate to the video in question and double click it. Another dialog will come up asking if you want iTunes to look in that location for other missing videos. Click Cancel. (Each video is in it's own folder. It will mess up even more locations if you click OK.) The video will start to play. So X out. Do this for every video that's missing. (That's the drudge part.) Now re-sync. All your videos will be restored to your device. (In Home Videos.)

I download videos from YouTube, convert to also get audio file. Add both to iTunes. Move video type files (m4v) to playlist on iTunes named "medley" which only contains only videos/movies. If I remember correctly, you cannot move it to "movie" "folder" but it eventually gets copied there. Move audio files (m4a) to other playlists containing audio files. Sync to get them on iPhone and iPad. Fixed missing "Home Videos" library on iPad (with 10.2) by: 1) resetting iPad (erases settings and data) 2) restore from backup 3) sync 4) delete one or more video files from iTunes 5) sync 6) add the video files back into iTunes 7) move the videos to video playlist ("medley" in my case) sync. I had a couple of video files that didn't load completely because I had interrupted the download because I had to go to work. So those were the ones I deleted and reloaded. Or you can chose any random video file. After I did the final sync, the "Home Videos" library appeared. I'm not sure if steps 1 and 2 is needed. I was going to try reverting to 10.11 but wanted to try resetting and manually installing everything first. Not sure if steps 1 and 2 are really needed. Of course, you would need a backup file for the restore. Try starting from step 4 first. Then retry starting from step 1 if that doesn't work. If that doesn't work, try reverting to 10.11 and restore from backup if have a 10.11 backup (if no backup or 10.2 backup, will have to manually add apps and sync). Fortunately, I didn't have to revert back to 10.11 and manually add apps.

I have both an iPhone 7+ and an iPad air 2. I only had the problem on my iPad but I fixed it. How do you upload music and videos to your device? The process I use is: 1) add music (m4a format) or movies (mostly mp4 format, a few m4v format) to iTunes. 2) create playlist 3) drag/move movies to a movie only playlist (mine is named "Medly") 3) drag/move music files to other playlists (organize by genre, etc) 4) connect iPhone or iPad with iTunes 5) sync with iPhone and iPad (both running iOS 10.2). There are default playlist named music and movies which your music and movies get copied to sometime after the syncing process. You can't move files from your playlist to "music" or "movies". iTunes does it for you. To fix the missing "Home Videos" library problem, try deleting a couple of movie files from iTunes. Sync your device. Add the movie files back into iTunes. Move the movie file into your videos only playlist. Connect and sync your device. If that doesn't work, try resetting (deletes settings and data) your device, restore from backup and then sync. If all that doesn't work, you could try reverting back to iOS 10.11 but do that only as a last resort because you can't do a restore from backup (you can't use a 10.2 backup to restore to an older version of iOS).
