I have done all this...I have contacted apple and done everything they say. I have made several people as critical notifications...Still sometimes I get notified sometimes I don't.. It's extremely frustrating. So far it's just irritating but it could cause issues if it continues... Yes I checked and scheduled notifications is off and I have never used it.

You might not be getting notifications on your iPhone for a few reasons. Here are some of the most common causes:

  • Do Not Disturb mode is turned on. Do Not Disturb mode silences all notifications, so ensure it's turned off. You can do this by swiping down from the top of your screen and tapping the crescent moon icon.
  • You're in Focus mode. Focus modes are like the Do Not Disturb mode, but they can be customized to block notifications from specific apps or people. To check if you're in Focus mode, swipe down from the top of your screen and tap the Focus icon.
  • You've turned off notifications for a specific app. You can turn off notifications for individual apps in the Settings app. To do this, go to Settings > Notifications and scroll down to the app you want to change. Toggle the Allow Notifications switch to the off position.
  • Your iPhone is in Airplane mode. Airplane mode turns off all wireless connections, including cellular data and Wi-Fi. This means that you won't be able to receive notifications if your iPhone is in Airplane mode.
  • Your iPhone is not connected to the internet. If your iPhone is not connected to the internet, you won't be able to receive notifications from apps that need to connect to the internet to send notifications.

If you've checked all of these things and you're still not getting notifications, you can try restarting your iPhone. If that doesn't work, you can contact Apple support for help.

Have you enabled Scheduled Summary?

Settings > Notifications > [Select the App that you are having trouble receiving immediate notifications]

See the pic below for a few examples. Please select immediate delivery.

Go to Settings and tap Notifications. Select an app under Notification Style. Under Alerts, choose the alert style that you want. If you turn on Allow Notifications, choose when you want the notifications delivered — immediately or in the scheduled notification summary.

Use notifications on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Change notification settings on iPhone

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications.
  2. To schedule a notifications summary, tap Scheduled Summary, then turn on Scheduled Summary. ...
  3. To choose when you want most notification previews to appear, tap Show Previews, select an option—Always, When Unlocked, or Never—then tap.

When you wear Apple Watch and your iPhone screen is locked, notifications go to your Apple Watch, NOT your iPhone. And if your iPhone screen is active, notifications go to your iPhone, NOT your Apple Watch. This is by design. In other words, notifications go to one or the other, but NOT both at the same time. So FYI for those with this problem. I have multiple apple devices...iPad pro, iPad mini, apple phone and apple watch. I went and did a last ditch search to solve this issue before going to the apple store for assistance. Even though I turned off messages on my iPad pro and mini some how on my iPad pro the focus was turned on and shared across devices. I'm positive I turned it off but.....anyway check ALL Apple devices to make sure focus is turned off. I have had no further problems. I will always check now when doing software updates though

How have you configured notifications on your Apple Watch? Remember, if the iPhone screen is locked, the notifications will come to the watch. Proximity to your iPhone doesn't matter. It only matters if the iPhone screen is active at the time a notification arrives. If its locked (screen not active), the notification will come to your watch, so you need to make sure you have configured notifications correctly on your Apple Watch. Personally, I use Haptics on my Apple Watch (not sounds) and I have it set to Prominent, so I get a pretty hard tap on my wrist.

I just went through them again, changed sounds, checked haptics... the only thing I haven't done a reset on is my watch so I'll try that. I do have an iPad and iPad mini, but in the process of trying to figure out what's going on I've totally turned off messenger on them. I think my next thing is I have an apple store near me, I'll make an appointment and bring a kid with me with their phone to let them see what's up..
