A problem occurred with this web page so it was reloaded

My iPad 2 has become unusable due to constant reloading of web pages with the following message "

A problem occurred with this web page so it was reloaded

I tired resetting net work and rebooting the iPad, neither helped. It seems to be a common problem. Does Apple have a fix or are they working on a fix or do they no longer plan to support iPad 2s? It would be nice to hear from Apple.

Thanks.

I am a web developer, encountering this problem for the first time. Here is what I have noticed.

  • This occurs for me when trying to capture photos. (My JavaScript code opens the iPhone camera with an <input type="file" capture /> tag, then waits for the camera to return a photo into this element. When that happens, an event listener begins processing the image. However, this error seems to occur when control passes from the iPhone camera back to the JavaScript event handler, reloading the web page and causing web inspector to crash before giving me any error information.)
  • It only happens in iOS Safari; I haven't seen it in iOS Chrome.
  • It only happens when running in the browser, not when running as a webapp.
  • It happens with photos in either portrait or landscape mode.
  • It happens randomly, not consistently. (In other words, I can take the same picture or the same sequence of pictures; sometime I will see the error, other times I will not.)
  • I have tried both an iPhone 6 and a 4s, both running iOS 8.2. I receive the same error.
  • I tried using an iPhone 4s running iOS 7 and could not recreate the error.
  • I tried using an iPad Air (not sure of the model) running iOS 8.1.3 but have not been able to recreate this error.
  • I have not been able to recreate this error, or received any other error message, in any Windows-based browser, nor in Safari or Chrome on the MacBook Air.
  • I have received out-of-memory errors when running in Chrome on Android 5.0 on a Samsung S5, but not S4 (Android 4.4.2). ("Unable to complete previous operation due to low memory.") As with the iOS error, this error has appeared randomly.

Has anyone had similar observations about when this problem occurs?

It seems to me that this must be an iOS bug, but it still leaves my customers in a bind. Any thoughts on how to circumvent this issue?

Peace!

This might be pretty naive, but could the error be anything to do with the size of image and the time it takes to load it in iOS Safari? I have a similar problem with a client's site designed in Wordpress and the homepage image looks like it could be large in size (waiting to find out how big and if it can be amended).

Like you and others, Chrome seems to load the page fine.

i Have this problem too and more than once I have been tempted to throw my iPad2 at the nearest wall. For me it appears to be related to loading large images and may possibly be because my home connection is quite slow. However my partner (who has an iPad3) doesn't get the problem as often as I do so I suspect it must also be hardware related. It particularly annoying when the problem image is a large advert banner that I have absolutely no interest in. I can be reading what I want on the page and it just reloads without warning. I think Apple should make automatic reload an option that can be turned off. I am capable of hitting a reload symbol!!

This is the exact issue we are having with a web app we are developing. medent_jefff did you ever find a solution for this?

Im getting this on iPad 2 and iPhone 6 plus. I'm on the 6 plus now in landscape mode and half way down this page: http://livemulch.com/groundcoverz/ Safari reloads with the problem text. I can't even view all the flowers on that website because by the time I get half way down it crashes. It's a shame you pay a premium for this stuff but do not get a premium experience. Have constanr issues with exchange active sync calendars updating properly with all of our management team at work.

IS theire a forum or online community we could go where Apple employees participate? Don't mean to rant with all you guys, but if you know the right avenue to get this communicated please pst a link.

Yup, I'm not happy with my website since safari and chrome for the iphone and ipad only loads every page except for the pages that I'm selling items on (jewelry, clothing, etc at sleepwalker777.com). That's a huge problem that apple needs to resolve cause it's hurting my business. The site runs fine on desktops and laptops, just not with apple devices. If anyone can figure out why these pages keep crashing on my site, please let me know...thanks much!

I Finally conquered the page reloading problem.

i Was about to throw in the towell and quit using my IPad to surf the web.

i Loaded a new browser called adware and it solved the problem.

i Actual moved the Safari icon away from my lower toolbar and put adware in its place.

in addition to the page reload, some pages would delay typing by many seconds making a post impossible.

I Went to the Adware pro for 5 bucks.

if everyone's does the same maybe Safari will fix their problems.

A problem occurred with this web page so it was reloaded
