My iPad 2 has become unusable due to constant reloading of web pages with the following message "

A problem occurred with this web page so it was reloaded

I tired resetting net work and rebooting the iPad, neither helped. It seems to be a common problem. Does Apple have a fix or are they working on a fix or do they no longer plan to support iPad 2s? It would be nice to hear from Apple.

Thanks.

A number of posts mention using Adblock Pro, but no one clarifies which app they used as far as the author / company which provides it. I found several apps in the App Store named Adblock Pro as well as well as several names Adblock Plus (which someone else mentioned) and many others with Adblock in their name. i also saw references to spending about $4.99 for iAdblock Pro, but I didn't find one with that name for that price. Also, the Adblock Pro apps I found sounded like they work right with Safari rather than being a separate browser (although I realize all browsers use the Safari engine). Anybody care to clarify?

After further research, I lea that most of the ad blockers utilize new capabilities put in recent versions of iOS and Safari to do the ad blocking. Unfortunately, these only work with newer hardware such as iPhone 5s and later, and they won't help with my old iPad 2. There are some alternate browsers which do ad blocking on older hardware. I tried Adblock Browser from the makers of the open source Adblock Plus. It's pretty bare bones, and the UI is not that intuitive. If you try it, see their FAQ and forums for help. In limited testing, it seems reasonably fast.

Also, my Safari does seem to get the problem the most when I have many tabs open. If I close most of them, I haven't seen this occur.

Just jumping into this discussion a year after it was started as I'm having this problem with my trusty (?) iPad 2 now running 9.1. The interesting thing is that this reminds me a lot of the discussion we had after the release of iOS 7 in Sept 2013. We all started noticing that both apps and web pages were resetting after switching back from another app. The problem was completely ignored by Apple as it seemed that not everyone was experiencing it and for most (but not all) people getting a newer device fixed the issue. For anyone wanting to see this possible progenitor to the 'web page reloading' problem being discussed here, see the 65 pages of discussion of the app and browser tab reset problem here: ios7 keeps refreshing apps after switching

(I wouldn't be surprised if that was the largest thread to ever appear on this Apple forum.)

As far as I'm concerned, all iOS versions after 6 degraded the iPad 2. iOS 6 was the only real operating system it was fully compatible and dynamic with. iOS 9 Is not that much worse on it than iOS 7 but the iPad 2 was a perfect piece of hardware with iOS 6. This reset problem started happening in Sept 2013 with the release of iOS 7 and has gone through many guises since then; if I'm right (I may not be) this one you're discussing here is only its latest.

I'd be curious to know: for those of you with an iPad 2 or 3, do your apps reset when you switch back to them from another app, or it only a problem of Safari tabs crashing and then resetting?

I'd like to get a better understanding of this also as I also see several products in the App Store called Adblock. Two or three are web browsers and one or two others are not web browsers but rather extensions to Safari that work only with more recent devices and not with my iPad 2. For those of you who have had success with this problem by using a web browser called Adblock, could you mention the developer's name? Thanks.

Using 'Reader View' is a great idea. It does help so you can at least 'read' a page without the annoyance of it reloading.

To: Anyone Reading This - Don't waste your time and the hassle of clearing cookies and browser data ... it is not a solid fix.

Apple needs to get this fixed. I've been using iPad's since they were originally released and this just started in the past 3-4 months.

My iPad Air has become unusable, its nuts. Its happening on the News Application as well. Its better if I turn off JavaScript but still got a few page load errors but not nearly as many.

What happened to "It Just Works" as the guiding design philosophy?

If this is because of the "Universal Links" feature (which evidence suggests was part of problem) that allows websites to prompt to "Download My App" then this may be the stupidest problem Apple has ever allowed to persist. Sacrifice hardware sales (through diminished perception of quality) to promote apps over websites.

APPLE PLEASE FIX.

Infuriating.
