In Photos 5 in Catalina you can simply select all photos in the slideshow project with ⌘A and then use the command "File > New album with selection ⌘N.

In macOS Sierra 10.12.4 try this: (it has not been possible in previous versions, when I tried):

  • Select several slides at once in the filmstrip of the slideshow.
  • Open the Info panel with ⌘I. You will see a summarized info for all selected photos.
  • Now type a keyword "mySlideshow" or similar into the field where the keywords are shown.
  • Repeat, until all photos have been tagged with keywords.
  • Now create a new smart album "File > New Smart Album" with a rule "Keyword is mySlideshow". This smart album will show you all photos used in the slideshow.
